What you need:
one // Chose a surface to display your map art on
two // Map(s) (I used vintage maps purchased through eBay)
three // Black and white photo of shape you want to cut out of map
four // X-acto knife and cutting surface
five // Envirotex (polymer for shiny finished surface)
six // Spray adhesive
i n s t r u c t i o n s : The easiest way to do this is to tape the map behind the black and white image onto a window that has lots of light shining through. Trace the black image onto the back of the map. Place the map onto your cutting surface and use an X-acto knife to cut image out. Spray adhere the back of the map and place onto the display surface. Follow Envirotex's instructions and pour over surface. Let dry for a day or two.
I made one for myself and one for my lovely friend Elena. We both have them in our work spaces.
I love making these just as much as I love using the Envirotex, and I use Envirotex on everything! It can get a bit sticky so be prepared to quarantine an area for this because it drips, dries and is permanent.
