Last October I was contacted to feature my apparel collection designed while attending the Art Institute in this years Nike's Inspired Design Art and Fashion Show. "With the theme of “Inspired Design”, our hope is that you will find inspiration through the artists that surround you and the stories their work represents" -Nike Native American Network
It was an absolute privilege to be among the chosen few to honor our ancestors.
Unfortunately I was traveling for work so my guy stood in for me and even spoke on stage; what a guy!
These photo's are the first I've seen of the event so it was only appropriate to share the excitement.
Designer | Michele Wright
A recent graduate of the Art Institute of Portland, Michele combines her knowledge of the apparel industry with inspirations from historical fashion, interior design and organic elements. She focuses on her philosophy of lush minimalism in both aesthetic and its core principles. Less, but better: striking yet wearable classic pieces not to be a short-term trend but one that can last multiple seasons. Though her line is not entirely organic, she strives to use environmentally friendly materials and most importantly to not waste. Wrights collection was designed to be 4 total looks but with the discarded fabric she was able to develop a 5th look; one featuring a leather vest and scarf created
entirely from discarded fabric.
